Orran’s Gala Dinner

 

October , Glendale - Orran, a charitable organization helping children and elderly in need in Armenia will be holding its 5th annual fundraising gala at the Vertigo Hall in Glendale. The evening will include musical performances by Heibert Leo Sarian, who will debut his song written about Orran and a live painting completed during the evening by artist DEHMQ. The guest speakers for the evening are Angela Tankian, Ani and Joseph Hovannisian and Ani Keverokian Hovannisian who will give their personal testimonials about their experience at  Orran.  The emcee for the evening will be Michael Kay.

The evening will also include a live auction presided over  by  notable attorney Garo Mardirossian. The auction items gifted by the SOAD members will include Serj  Tankian’s custom made guitar played at the most recent world tour beginning in Zurich and ending in Moscow and signed by all the members of SOAD, John Dolmayan’s painted cymbal, and Shavo Odadjian’s silver necklace. All three members will be present during the auction. 

Art pieces from well known artists Vera Arutyunyan, Arev Petrosyan, and the late Rostom Voskanian, as well as items made by the children of Orran will be offered.  All items are donated  by the artists.  The Dark Knight featuring Batman on watercolor paper by Jim Lee will be one of the prized items. Jim Lee has donated the art work in the hope that it will ensure good income for the needs of the children.   The guests will also have an opportunity to bid on a trip to the UK and be hosted by Krikor and Anna Krikorian. The evening will end with a toast of Ararat Cognac donated by Ararat Cognac. 

Hermine Oruncackiel, chairman of the Board of Directors of Orran USA commented:  “The committee members have worked very hard to make sure that  the evening is a  pleasant and memorable one  for the guests.  We want to make sure   that Orran is able to carry out its work of daily helping  450 children and elderly who are in destitute conditions in our homeland.”  

Orran was founded in Armenia in the year 2000 by Raffi and Armine K. Hovannisian.  Its mission is to help families in need.  Orran provides a daily hot meal to the elderly.  For the children, Orran offers a daily hot meal, medical, social, psychological and tutorial assistance. The children also learn vocational skills such as wood carving, sewing, knitting, and ceramics.  There are special workshops on  computers and math.
