Business challenge by VivaCell-MTS

At the 24-th annual summer camp organized by the Junior Achievement of Armenia over 150 schoolchildren from Yerevan and other regions of Armenia participated in the “Business Assignment” contest suggested by VivaCell-MTS. The competition was organized as part of JAA’s “Entrepreneurship and Civic Activism for Students and Teachers of the Vulnerable Communities in the Republic of Armenia” program.

The joint initiative of VivaCell-MTS and JAA is aimed at creating a dialogue between business and education, thus encouraging high school students to develop their entrepreneurial and creative skills.  This challenge allows the students to use the knowledge acquired during the past academic year in the JAA program and to suggest innovative business solutions to the company.

Ahead of the competition, volunteers from VivaCell-MTS presented the students the business -task. The students had limited time to come up with solutions and to present their ideas to the jury - VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian and JAA’s Executive Director Armine Hovhannisian.

The students were assigned to get acquainted with VivaCell-MTS “Viva” tariff plans and to suggest new services within the tariff plans. They were also asked to consider other VivaCell-MTS services and to suggest ways of attracting more costumers.

When preparing their presentations, the students had to consider the following factors:

1)       Price

2)      Profit

3)      Corporate Social Responsibility

4)      Competition

In order to provide access to mobile internet for carrying out their research, VivaCell-MTS provided the students with respective mobile communication service.

“Business administration is a chain, where, along with meeting business objectives, it is also quite important to present solutions that are flexible, attractive and best suited to the needs of the customers. They should be designed to reflect the core values and the responsible attitude of the company, to add competitive advantage, and last but not least, to contribute to sustainable economic development of the country. Your enthusiasm and determination to succeed are worthy of respect. This platform offers you a wonderful opportunity to apply the acquired knowledge in practice, and it will help you to become more confident and to have a clear vision of the future,” stated Ralph Yirikian.

The JAA “Entrepreneurship and Civic Activism for Students and Teachers of the Vulnerable Communities in the Republic of Armenia” program operates in 150 schools and works with over 2500 students in all regions of Armenia. It is sponsored by the JHM foundation and the HSBC bank.  The aim of the program is to arm students with entrepreneurial and economic skills. The students learn the fundamentals of market economics and apply it to real life by forming and operating student NGOs.  The program also teaches the students to become active citizens, work in teams and address the issues of their communities.

The members of the winning team were awarded with “Alcatel Pixi 4” smartphones by VivaCell-MTS General Manager.
